Biography

Pianist Ilze Jaunzeme is passionate about connecting with audiences through music.  Throughout her career, she has performed in various venues ranging from house concerts to larger halls.  She particularly enjoys more intimate venues where the connection with the audience can be quite strong.

Ms. Jaunzeme has given solo recitals in Norway, Germany, Latvia, Poland, and Sweden.   She is also deeply involved in chamber music and was a founding member of Decorum Piano Trio, which performed in Latvia.  Other chamber music experiences include performing with other instrumentalists at the Aurora Winter Classic Festival in Sweden and the Biezsciady bez granic Festival in Poland.   Ms. Jaunzeme has had the opportunity to collaborate with contemporary composers and has given the premiere performances of works by Natalija Munda, Laura Gustovska, and Ieva Klingenberga.  Moreover, she has had concerto performances with Sinfonietta Dresden, the Madona Festival Orchestra, and the Lviv Chamber Orchestra Akademia.

Ms. Jaunzeme received her Masters in Music in both piano and chamber music at the Latvian Academy of Music under Professors Arnis Zandmanis, Herta Hansena and Sergei Osokins.  Before starting her studies there, she won the Latvian Ministry of Culture Award for Outstanding Achievements.   In 2012, Ms. Jaunzeme was a winner of the Wingate Fellowship, which allowed her to participate in the London Masterclasses.  She is currently working toward an Artist Diploma with Professor Lee Kum Sing at the Vancouver Academy of Music – S.K. Lee College.
